The 27th Winter Meeting of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS)

The 27th Winter Meeting of the ESCRS took place in Vilamoura, Portugal, from 10-12 March 2023, with 1,300 attendees. The event was held at the Centro de Congressos do Algarve, in the Marina of Vilamoura, and provided a forum for experts in the field of cataract and refractive surgery to share the latest research, clinical advances, and best practices. The ESCRS Winter Meeting's objective is to take place in regions the Annual Congress would not be going to and thereby attracting audiences which would not necessarily participate at their main meeting. Responsible for organizing the 27th Winter Meeting of the ESCRS, MCI Switzerland as core PCO for ESCRS, managed all aspects of the event with support from our colleagues MCI UK on elements around Committee Meetings, through their role as AM&C  for ESCRS​
For their 2023 Winter Meeting, ESCRS had decided to opt for a F2F version ONLY. The congress did not provide any virtual format. This was somewhat a trial run, which fit the requirements of this much smaller meeting of the ESCRS, with a much smaller budget, very well.​
One additional reason for going F2F only was also to test the up-take after 2 years of fully virtual Winter Meetings. ​
The client's expectations were fully met, and the stakeholders were able to enjoy an enriching experience in serene and relaxing settings and surroundings. Our team, in collaboration with our UK colleagues, was proud to have played a key role in delivering this congress, providing all stakeholders with meaningful moments to exchange and share.
