Design thinking is just how we think

Design thinking is just how we think – it’s an integrated and intuitive part of our process. Whatever challenge our clients present our teams with, it’s crucial to ask the right questions at the right time. We solve the ‘why’, the ‘how’ and the ‘who’ challenges in loops; through processes that can be repeated until we find a solution that is explored, designed, and qualified.

At the beginning it’s about coming up with as many ideas as possible and we invite our teams and those who may offer a fresh perspective into those conversations. Diversity of thought is always welcome, otherwise one can fall into the trap of doing the same thing over again and expecting a different outcome – we champion cross-functional team collaboration. Once a route is chosen then we refine the ideas and then explore more around this train of thought.

Empathy is a key driver of why we do what we do for our clients and their members, customers and communities. It’s finding the balance between the goals that our clients need to achieve and how their audiences can be fulfilled by the experience, campaign or initiative. From creating behavioural change and shifting perceptions, to educating, inspiring and growing communities, keeping in mind the end user is how we stay people focussed.

We’re not afraid to challenge each other and our clients as it’s all in the aim of creating the most effective and impactful outcome. To drive meaningful change, it’s so important to understand what it is exactly that our clients want to achieve. Sometimes the ‘ask’ doesn’t match up with the result they are after, so this is where we test the brief, ensure the expected outcome aligns with the purpose of the project. As a result, the end solution may be different from what the client initially briefed us on, but this is all done to give best advice to our clients, and we take them through the whole journey and collaborate at each step.

Visualising what success looks like and then making it happen for our clients and their audiences is what we’re here for……and then we do it all again…but differently!
