A leading pharmaceutical company needed an agency to help organise their Kick Off meeting for 2023. With an already established relationship with the client, we discussed how MCI could help them push this Kick Off further than what was expected. We knew that they had the opportunity to dial up the morale and the excitement within the teams, and truly make this event one which stood out.

Ahead of the event, we asked registrants to submit a 30-second video to tell us why they said ‘yes’ to working in healthcare or, more specifically ‘yes’ to working for the company they work for. These videos were used in between the sessions, designed to constantly remind the audience of the passion and commitment individual shave to their roles and to promote a sense of pride in what they do. We also recruited some representatives to act as facilitators for the event. Their involvement began several months ahead of the event, filming a teaser video in a Carpool Karaoke style following their drive to the conference while they discussed their reasons for pursuing their careers, their hoped outcomes from the meeting, and some actual Karaoke!

The common thread of the event was that of a Journey. This provided the imagery, language and various links during the agenda. However, we were careful that the concept did not overpower the event and introduce more messaging into the business mix. As such, while traditionally delivered with a strapline, the ‘Kick Off Meeting 2023’ was called just that to immediately take things back to basics. Speakers were asked to present no more than 10 slides and sessions were largely kept to 30 minutes to maintain engagement and keep energy levels high.

As their first face-to-face event in a few years, they have learned that this is the preferred format for their team – with a mix of colleagues working in the field as well as head office, they really value this time and investment to get together. The 2023 event signalled a chance to reset after a tumultuous year and attendees left feeling energised and clear on the way ahead.
