Automating success: SES boosts membership renewals through engagement campaign

The Society for Standardization Professionals (SES) serves professionals engaged in the engineering and application of standard operating procedures. With a focused membership of 450 individuals, SES offers a platform for knowledge exchange and networking, particularly at in-person conferences. 

After experiencing a decrease in membership renewals, SES worked with its full-service management partner MCI USA to facilitate the seamless integration of innovative solutions to address this membership challenge.  

In January 2023, MCI USA launched the use of a vetted technology tool, an engagement platform that helps associations turn communications into conversations. Associations can use the tool to gather information from members that helps drive engagement and retention. This effort featured a six-month drip campaign, starting with proactive outreach in February 2023, which achieved a 20% increase in membership renewals by March. 

Results 

The strategic implementation of the engagement technology had a noticeable impact, with membership increasing 30% in one year. This growth not only stabilized the association’s membership numbers but also boosted revenue and reduced the need for manual processes. 

The partnership between SES and MCI USA showcases a successful turnaround from potential decline to marked growth and operational efficiency. This collaboration exemplifies how targeted interventions and technological integration can positively impact membership and financial stability in association management.
