A tech company takes their annual recognition program to the next level

Wachter, an innovative technology and infrastructure installation company, wanted to create a unique experience for attendees at its annual leadership meeting. The event was typically held locally in Kansas City, near the company’s headquarters, but for their February 2024 program, they wanted a warm location that would bring a change of scenery and celebrate their success in an exciting way that was different from what they’d done in the past.

Wachter’s vision was bold — a leadership meeting that would serve as a catalyst for motivation, celebration and alignment for the coming year. Venturing outside of Kansas City, however, presented a unique set of challenges. Without local knowledge nor experience in organizing full-service events, they needed a partner that could guide them through the complexities of selecting the right venue, while delivering on budget and creating an unforgettable experience. Recommending the Ideal Venue

Wachter wanted a locale that was vibrant and warm, as the event was taking place in February. Being a peak time in the area, the search for the perfect location led MCI USA to recommend North Miami Beach, Florida, where the Solé Miami resort became the chosen venue, offering a perfect mix of beachfront access, an intimate boutique size that made the group feel exclusive, and true affordable luxury.

Weathering the Unpredictable

When Florida’s tropical weather dampened a poolside reception, MCI USA’s foresight in proactively securing an indoor back-up ensured the event’s momentum remained unbroken, while still providing a beautiful view of the pool and beach, as well as a covered terrace for a taste of the outside.

Curating Signature Experiences

MCI USA infused the event with bespoke touches, including activities like deep sea fishing, a kayak eco tour in the mangroves, a city tour by vintage car, golf or the spa. MCI USA’s negotiation strategy enabled enhancements to be incorporated throughout the meeting, such as amplifying the ambiance of the dinner cruise with upgraded floral arrangements, linens, and décor, and providing a last-minute production solution for streaming a moving video.

The closing dinner, with feet in the sand, was the pinnacle of a perfect week. Wachter’s director of human resources shared, “We were nervous to plan something like this away from Kansas, but MCI was wonderful. I was blown away with how well the trip went. We could not have done it without MCI. We formed a great friendship that will be long lasting.”

Post-event feedback confirmed that the experience was memorable and went above and beyond.
